Kpop: Tren-D (트랜디)

What strikes me with Tren-D's first song "Candy Boy" that it such an archetypical example of a kpop debut. Lots of cuteness, a bad excuse of a story thats just there as an excuse for as many aegyo (looking cute) moments as possible, and a track that is somewhat catchy (again - to maximize the no-nonsense feel-good style) but easily forgotten. In this video you have the neon colors, the innocent 80s sound, the facial expressions, the happy-style dance steps, and more.
There are the few exceptions with rookies getting hits from the start, at least not due to the debut song being top class. Later on they may widen the scope and become more unique, even make some mistakes, but not at the start. In the grand curve of kpop group careers, this first step is all about making an entrance as new and fresh girls (or boys), and not make any mistakes.
