Dal Shabet and their "Have, Don't Have" was on
my top 10 list for best kpop of 2012, and that song wasnt the first to enter -and stay- on my favorite playlist. Their songs and videos have hade that something special, that character, that makes them so likable and non-standard somehow. In their new offer, "Be Ambitious", I'm sad to say most of that specialness is gone, and instead replaced by a rather cliched choregraphy that simply aims to show of their legs. In these summer times I would forgive and forget that, if it wasn't for the song also being a such unremarkable piece. Compare both song and dance execution with Sistars recent "
Give it to me" and its obvious this latest effort is doubly lacking. Its not really bad, but even though Dal Shabet are good, they doesn't (yet) have that capability like for example BoA to
turn so-so material to something special. Lets hope their next song is better.
